Trade names and synonyms
Tropheus moorii, Red Moorii.
Many different trade names are used for the many geographic colour variants.

Size
Both male and female attains a maximum length of approximately 14 cm.

Food
I nature Tropheus are strictly algae-eaters.

Aquarium
Is best kept in an aquarium of 350 litres or larger.

Habitat
Rocky habitat.

Breeding
Mouth brooder.

General
All Tropheus is best kept in large numbers, a group with 15 or more works best. There should be more females than males in the tank, a ratio of 4-6 females per male is to prefer.

Distribution
Occurs in the southwestern part of the Lake Tanganyika.
