Trade names and synonyms
Pseudotropheus Tropheops red cheek, Pseudotropheus Tropheops red head, Pseudotropheus Big eye, Macropthalmus Red cheek.
Size
At the most 14-15 cm (5.5-6 in.), females are significant smaller.

Habitat
Turbulent water in rocky habitat.
Breeding
Not so easy to spawn like many other mbunas, but still it is relatively easy to spawn.
General
In the wild the male guards a territory of around 2 m in diameter at a rock. A very attractive cichlid which I gladly recommend, best kept together with other rough cichlids.
Distribution
Tropheops sp."red cheek" is mostly exported from Likoma and Chizumulu Islands, but they also occurs from Cape Kaiser to Ikombe and between Tsano Rocks and Zambo Point.
