Size
Males could reach a size of 20 cm, females are smaller.

Food
In the wild it is mainly feeding on different invertebrates.

Aquarium
Could be hold in quite small tanks, from 150 litres and above.

Habitat
Occurs in sandy habitats and the intermediate zone between rocks and sandy in shallow waters.

Breeding
Substrate spawner.

General
Neolamprologus tetracanthus is despite the size a quiet and peaceful cichlid.

Distribution
Occurs all around the Lake Tanganyika.
