Trade names and synonyms
Labidochromis tanganyicae, Labidochromis Yellow, Labidochromis electric yellow, Labidochromis Nkali, Labidochromis white, Golden.
Size
Can reach a length of 10-13 cm (4-5 in.), the females are commonly smaller than the male. The male also have more black in the back, anal and ventral fins.
Food
Shrimp mix, brine shrimps and spirulinaflakes.
Aquarium
300 litres and above, arranged with plenty of caves and hiding-places.
Habitat
Occurs in rocky habitats at depths between 10 och 25 m.
Breeding
Modest mbuna which is easy to spawn.
General
Lab. caeruleus is a quiet and peaceful mbuna, a perfect cichlid for beginners.
Distribution
Lab. caeruleus is found at a wide area in the north part of the lake, from Chirmbo Point to Charo in Malawi and between Cape Kaiser and Lundo at the east coast in Tanzania.
The bright yellow variant called "Electric yellow" is found between Charo and Lions Cove at Malawi's coastline in the northeast part of the lake..
