Trade names and synonyms
Regan's Julidochromis, Kilpili regani.
Size
Maximum size 13-15 cm (5-6 in.), males a bit smaller.
Food
Shrimp mix, cyclops and brine shrimps.
Aquarium
Minimum 200 litres (45 gal.).
Habitat
Rocky coastlines.
Breeding
A substrate spawner which is easy to spawn. The best way to spawn it is in a separate breeding aquarium with only one pair of fishes.
General
Julidochromis regani is rather aggressive against equals and needs a tank arranged with many caves and hiding-places. All Julidochromis are sensitive against too big waterchanges, well established breeding-pairs can split up. Because of that you should change a small amount of water regularly, about 10-15% of the quantity each time.
Distribution
Found all around the Lake Tanganyika in different geographical variants. The most popular variant with blue seams in the fins is found around Kipili in Tanzania.
