BreedingIf it is kept in an aquarium that's big enough it's fairly easy to breed this mouth brooder.
GeneralCyphotilapia frontosa is a peaceful and shy cichlid, sometimes it even seems to be a bit stupid. It should be kept in groups of at least 5 specimens. If the company in the aquarium is too lively it could be retiring, and have difficulties to reach the food by the feeding. Too small fishes are neither any good company to the frontosa because it could approach them as food. If you have enough space in your aquarium I think that you should try those cichlids. It's a really nice cichlid that often appears to have personality like an ordinary pet. They often get tame and their obstinacy gives a impression of intelligence.
DistributionOccurs all around the Lake Tanganyika in different variants.
